Today 94.1 myFM and Fanshawe Career and Employment Services St. Thomas are shining a light on 9 amazing individuals, businesses, organizations and support staff that have stepped up and made a positive difference in our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the STEAM Education Centre in St. Thomas, the COVID-19 pandemic meant the immediate shut down of programs.
A place that was once filled with youth, students and teens gathering together to complete STEAM based camps and workshops, was forced to closed its doors to guests.
Jessica Gransaull, Executive Director of the STEAM Education Centre says the unfortunate situation that they were presented with, allowed them the opportunity to think outside the box.
For STEAM, that meant putting a spin on their re//BUILD.IT program.
With many individuals now forced to work and learn from home, the STEAM Centre stepped up to refurbished desktop and laptop computers for those in need in the community, free of charge.
Gransaull says of all the accomplishments of the past year, they are most proud of the community support they received.
The biggest take away from a year of pandemic life says Gransaull is to just support those around us.
