A fire that broke out around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at Walnut Manor was quickly extinguished by the St. Thomas Fire Department.
When crews arrived on scene all staff and residents of the adult group home on Walnut Street had already evacuated the building safely.
Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun says the fire was contained to a portion of the back deck and the basement doorway located on the exterior of the building.
Minimal smoke made its way inside Walnut Manor and residents were allowed back into the home after about an hour.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
