Now that boaters can go out on the water, this is perhaps the best time to make sure all the necessary safety equipment on your vessel is in place.
OPP Sergeant Dave Hackney from the Marine Unit tells us one of the things people can do before heading out, is to make sure you have enough life jackets.
This is a great reminder as we celebrate Safe Boating Awareness Week from May 22nd to the 28th.
While lifejackets are the most important piece of safety equipment to have on a boat, it is not the only one according to Hackney.
Hackney adds that the Marine Unit doesn’t suggest keeping a jerry can of gasoline on board your boat.
Instead, he says ensure the motor has enough fuel for the round trip.
