The province is reporting 1,095 new COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths this morning while Southwestern Public Health is reporting five new cases with 12 resolved.
There were two new cases in St. Thomas and one in Aylmer.
The death total is 80 since the pandemic began.
Seven hundred and fifty-two of the confirmed cases involve variants of concern, with 67 cases still active.
There are 81 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 28 in Woodstock, 14 in St. Thomas, eight in Tillsonburg and Norwich, six in Aylmer, five in Zorra, four in West Elgin, two in Bayham, Central Elgin and Blandford-Blenheim and one each in SW Oxford and Ingersoll.
Fourteen patients and five staff at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital have tested positive.
Five individuals are hospitalized, two of those in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 33.5 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Fifty-five of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 16 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,590.
Through May 15 – the latest data available from the health unit – 75,780 individuals have been vaccinated by SWPH, with 73,226 of those having received their first dose.
There are 38.3 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 92.4 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 36 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 80.1 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 119 tests on Monday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 16 on Friday.
