The St. Thomas and District Chamber of Commerce are now offering free rapid antigen tests to small and medium sized businesses throughout Elgin County.
The StaySafe™ Elgin Rapid Antigen Screening Program is open to businesses with 150 employees or less, with the goal of identifying asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in the workplace that might otherwise be missed.
Business owners can place orders for the screening kits online and free of charge, thanks to both the Federal and Provincial government.
Businesses who have ordered kits will receive a two-week supply, based on twice weekly screening of their employees, as frequent screening with rapid antigen tests increases the chances of early identification of cases in otherwise asymptomatic individuals.
The Chamber says the pain free rapid screening test can be performed at the place of employment and takes approximately 15 minutes to yield a result.
