The province is reporting 699 new COVID-19 cases and nine deaths this morning while Southwestern Public Health is reporting four new cases with seven resolved. There were no new cases in St. Thomas or Elgin county.
The death total is 80 since the pandemic began.
Seven hundred and ninety-two of the confirmed cases involve variants of concern, with 44 cases still active.
There are 49 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 13 in Tillsonburg, 12 in St. Thomas, nine in Woodstock, six in Zorra, three in Norwich and one each in Bayham, West Elgin, East Zorra-Tavistock, Ingersoll, SW Oxford and Blandford-Blenheim.
There are no active institutional cases.
Three individuals are hospitalized, none of those in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.0 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Thirty-five of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 18 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,666.
The health unit announced Monday more than 100,000 individuals have been vaccinated by SWPH.
There are 23.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 60.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 30.8 cases per 100,000 population and there are no cases in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 56 tests on Sunday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 16 Friday.
