The province is reporting 870 new COVID-19 cases and 10 deaths this morning while Southwestern Public Health is reporting four new cases with nine resolved. There was one new case in Bayham and West Elgin.
The death total is 82 since the pandemic began.
Seven hundred and ninety-nine of the confirmed cases involve variants of concern, with 38 cases still active.
There are 43 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 12 in Tillsonburg, 10 in St. Thomas, six in Woodstock, four in Norwich and Zorra, two in West Elgin and East Zorra-Tavistock and in one each in Ingersoll, SW Oxford and Blandford-Blenheim.
There are no active institutional cases.
Two individuals are hospitalized, none of those in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.0 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Thirty-one of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 13 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,677.
The health unit announced Monday more than 100,000 individuals have been vaccinated by SWPH.
There are 20.3 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 42.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 25.7 cases per 100,000 population and there are no cases in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 153 tests on Tuesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 17 Monday.
