The province is reporting 574 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths this morning while Southwestern Public Health is reporting four new cases with two resolved. There was one new case in Aylmer.
The death total is 83 since the pandemic began.
Eight hundred and seven of the confirmed cases involve variants of concern, with 25 cases still active.
There are 21 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 15 in Woodstock and one each in St. Thomas, Aylmer, Bayham, Tillsonburg, Blandford-Blenheim and Norwich.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are no hospitalizations at this time. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.4 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Fourteen of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those eight are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,721.
The health unit advises 119,242 individuals have had at least one dose of vaccine by SWPH or 56 per cent of area residents.
There are 9.9 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 20.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 2.6 cases per 100,000 population and 13.3 per 100,000 population in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 122 tests on Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did eight on Wednesday.
