The province is reporting 447 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths this morning while Southwestern Public Health is reporting seven new cases with nine resolved. There were two new cases in St. Thomas.
The death total is 83 since the pandemic began.
There are 19 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 13 in Woodstock, three in St. Thomas and one each in Aylmer, Blandford-Blenheim and East Zorra-Tavistock.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are two people in hospital at this time, none in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.3 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Eleven of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those four are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,730.
The health unit advises 123,067 individuals have had at least one dose of vaccine by SWPH or 57.8 per cent of area residents.
There are 9.0 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 18.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 7.7 cases per 100,000 population and 13.3 per 100,000 population in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 63 tests on Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 16 on Friday.
