Following the retirement of Bill Todd, the St. Thomas Fire Department have announced that Kim Destun will be their new Chief Fire Prevention Officer.
Destun who has worked for the fire department for over 20 years, won’t see a huge change in her current role, as she has spent the past 3 years or so working closely with Bill Todd as the departments 2nd Fire Prevention Officer.
Destun says she looks forward to following in Todd’s foot steps.
Something exciting about the new roll Destun says is getting to work closely with local groups and organizations that she didn’t know they collaborated with.
She adds that the job does keep life exciting, noting that each day is always different.
The St. Thomas Fire Department is currently in the process of hiring Destun’s replacement, which will allow her the opportunity to take on the more senior role.
