There’s good news for international travellers. As of July 5th, fully vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents won’t have to go through a mandatory quarantine period when returning to the country.
But they still have to provide a negative COVID-19 test from 72 hours before arrival, take a second test upon arrival, and have a quarantine plan in place should the arrival test come back positive.
To be considered fully vaccinated, a traveller must have received the full series of a vaccine — or combination of vaccines — accepted by the Government of Canada at least 14 days prior to entering Canada. Currently, those vaccines include Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson).
Travellers can receive their vaccine in any country, and must provide documentation supporting their vaccination.
Children who aren’t vaccinated will be able to return home with their parents, but must quarantine for two weeks and take a second test eight days after arriving home.
