Starting Monday young people 12 to 17 years of age are eligible for an accelerated second dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine.
Based on appointment availability, they can receive their second dose a minimum of 28 days after their first shot.
Pfizer is currently the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for youth in Canada, and is available for youth at all Southwestern Public Health mass immunization clinics, including Memorial Arena in St. Thomas.

The Southwestern Public Health Same Day Vaccination List, which functions as a “cancellation list” prioritizes 12 – 17-year-olds. If youth are available for same day appointments, they can sign up for this service.
