The city of St. Thomas announced Thursday that it has filled the council seat left vacant after the death last month of Coun. Mark Tinlin.
Former councillor Mark Burgess has been appointed to assume the position at the August 9th meeting of council.
Burgess served on council from 2014 through 2018. He did not seek re-election in 2018.
Mayor Joe Preston noted, “With his experience we are very pleased that Mark has agreed to join our team.”
Burgess attended St. Joseph’s High School and Fanshawe College and has also worked at both the Thames Valley District School Board and London District Catholic School Board as an educational assistant.
