A section of Highway 401 will be closed for an extended period this weekend to allow for the demolition of the Westchester Bourne underpass.
Beginning Saturday at 6 p.m., all eastbound and westbound lanes of the 401 will be closed between Veterans Memorial Parkway and Dorchester Road.
Eastbound traffic will be rerouted via Veterans Memorial Parkway, Wilton Grove Road, Westchester Bourne Road, Cromarty Drive and Dorchester Road. Westbound traffic can utilize detours via Dorchester Road, Hamilton Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway.
The closure will remain in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
Construction will continue on both Monday and Tuesday from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m., with the same closures and detours in effect.
Major traffic delays are expected.
