The Canadian Women’s Goalball team got their first win at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games this morning, largely thanks to St. Thomas’s Emma Reinke.
The Railway city native put up a 4 goal performance for Canada, including 1 scored on a penalty shot.
Reinke also pulled off her own impressive block of a penalty shot in the 6-2 victory over Israel.
The victory for Canada does follow an unfortunate loss to the Russian Paralympic Committee Tuesday by a score of 5-1.
The Canadian Women’s Goalball team will hit the court again Friday at 8 p.m. EST (9 a.m. Saturday Tokyo time) when they take on Australia, who fell 11-1 against Israel in their first match up.
The full tournament schedule can be found here, with team updates and live stream links available on the Canadian Women’s Goalball Facebook Page.
