The Thames Valley District School Board is planning on starting up sports when the school year kicks off, with guidelines from the province, Public Health Units, and the Ontario Physical and Health Education Association.
Provincial guidelines now permit the use of gymnasiums, change rooms, weight rooms, indoor physical education equipment and shared outdoor equipment all with physical distancing.
The plan is for high schools to offer all sports in their regular seasons, with competition beginning before the end of September.
Spectators will be permitted for outdoor games only, and must follow public health guidelines, including physical distancing.
While the Board continues to wait for detailed guidelines from the province, OPHEA and public health, football training camps will not take place prior to the start of school. Once more information is available, more will be released.
Parents, guardians, students and coaches should be prepared for changes in protocols and scheduling if public health guidelines shift in response to pandemic conditions.
