The province this morning is reporting 865 new COVID-19 cases with 14 deaths, with 692 of those new cases in individuals not fully vaccinated or vaccination status unknown.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting eight new cases, with four resolved. There are three new cases in St. Thomas.
The death toll remains at 85 since the pandemic began.
There are 28 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with eight in St. Thomas, seven in Ingersoll, five in Tillsonburg, four in Woodstock and a single case each in Aylmer, Central Elgin, Dutton-Dunwich and SW Oxford.
A total of 999 cases have been variants of concern with 175 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are no hospitalizations at this time. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.4 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Twenty-seven of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 11 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,977.
A total of 137,786 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 64.7 per cent.
There are 13.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 48.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 20.6 cases per 100,000 population and 13.3 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 94 tests on Tuesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 11 on Monday.
