With back to school just a few days away for local children, the Aylmer Police Service are putting a heavy focus on traffic control and safety in school zones.
From August 30th to September 10th, the service will deliver the high visibility, education and enforcement campaign, in an effort to affect driver behaviour during the course of the School Year, with the hope of it have lasting safety benefits for the members of the community.
During the campaign, officers will focus on the five āSāsā, which include Speeding, Seatbelts, Stop Signs, School Zones, and School Buses.
The first phase of the program will be an education program commencing August 30th running until September 5th. During this phase of the program, available resources will be directed towards the school zones getting the area motorists prepared for the return to school. Serious violations within the school zones will be enforced.
Phase 2 of the Project will commence on the morning of September 6th. The program will then run during the weekdays from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Phase 2 will be an Enforcement Campaign with the emphasis on zero tolerance.
