The province this morning is reporting 807 new COVID-19 cases with six deaths, with 628 of those new cases in individuals not fully vaccinated or vaccination status unknown.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting eight new cases, with three resolved.
The death toll remains at 85 since the pandemic began.
There are 33 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with nine in St. Thomas, seven in Ingersoll, six in Woodstock, four in Tillsonburg, three in Aylmer and a single case each in Central Elgin, Dutton-Dunwich, Zorra and SW Oxford.
A total of 1,007 cases have been variants of concern with 183 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are no hospitalizations at this time. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.4 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Twenty-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 12 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,980.
A total of 137,786 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 64.7 per cent.
There are 15.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 44.5 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 23.1 cases per 100,000 population and 40.0 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 77 tests on Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did five on Wednesday.
