The province this morning is reporting 554 new COVID-19 cases with 16 deaths, with 418 of those new cases in individuals not fully vaccinated or vaccination status unknown.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting a single new case, with none resolved. The lone case was in Woodstock.
The death toll remains at 85 since the pandemic began.
There are 33 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 11 in Woodstock, eight in St. Thomas, five in Aylmer, four in SW Oxford, two in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg and a single case in Zorra.
A total of 1,024 cases have been variants of concern with 200 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are two hospitalizations at this time. Neither in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.6 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Twenty-seven of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 13 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,997.
A total of 140,005 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 65.8 per cent.
There are 15.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 40.0 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 20.6 cases per 100,000 population and 66.7 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 91 tests on Monday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 21 on Friday.
