The province this morning is reporting 610 new COVID-19 cases with two deaths. A total of 233 people across the province are hospitalized with COVID-19, with 177 in ICU.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 27 new cases since Friday, with 29 resolved. There are five new cases in Bayham, three in St. Thomas, two in Aylmer,
and one each in Dutton-Dunwich and West Elgin.
The death toll remains at 85 since the pandemic began.
There are 82 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 23 in Woodstock, nine in St. Thomas, seven in Aylmer, West Elgin and Tillsonburg, six in Norwich, five in Blandford-Blenheim and SW Oxford, four in Bayham and Ingersoll, two in Central Elgin and single cases in Malahide, Dutton-Dunwich and Zorra.
A total of 1,103 cases have been variants of concern with 279 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are three hospitalizations at this time, with two in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.2 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Fifty-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 15 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,066.
A total of 143,484 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 67.4 per cent.
There are 38.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 38.6 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 23.1 cases per 100,000 population and 93.4 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 158 tests Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 70 on Friday.
