It’s Federal Election Day and as we prepare to head to the polls, here is what you’ll need to bring with you in addition to your voter information card.
Returning Officer for Elgin-Middlesex-London, Carrie Woolley says all voters must show proof of identification in order to vote.
Woolley says that masks will be required to vote at all polling stations in the riding, unless medically exempted.
With this being the first election during the COVID-19 pandmeic, the advance polls gave us a sneak peak into what we can expect today.
Woolley notes that people may see longer lines than usual due to social distancing protocols, but they have plenty of staff ready to help make things run smoothly.
She adds that if you feel more comfortable, you can use your own pen or pencil to cast your vote. Single use pencils will be available to all voters as well.
You are reminded to check your voter information card to see where your specific polling station is located.
Polls will open at 9:30 a.m. and close this evening at 9:30 p.m.
