The disappointment was evident but it was the frustration that clearly cut through as Chelsea Hillier tried to comprehend the less-than-anticipated support at the polls Monday night, not only on a personal level but for the People’s Party of Canada which was shut out right across the country.
Hillier stressed “I care so deeply about the people of this riding.”
Hillier says she can’t fathom why more people did not choose to consider freedom for themselves and their children when casting their ballot.
Hillier notes it is inevitable another COVID-19 lockdown will be declared in Ontario.
She says she will run again but has little faith the present government can offer up a fair election.
So, the purple wave failed to materialize as Hillier garnered 7,272 votes or 12 per cent of the tally with 180 of 181 polls counted. The People’s Party failed to gain a seat across the country and came away with a 5.1 per cent share of the vote nationally.
