The province this morning is reporting 463 new COVID-19 cases. The first day below 500 cases since Aug. 24. In addition, there were eight deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting three new cases, with six resolved. There were two new cases in Southwold.
The death toll remains at 85 since the pandemic began.
There are 65 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 17 in Woodstock, eight in St. Thomas, six in Norwich, five in Blandford-Blenheim and Ingersoll, four in Aylmer, Bayham and Tillsonburg, three in West Elgin, two in Southwold and SW Oxford and single cases in Central Elgin, Malahide, Dutton-Dunwich, East Zorra-Tavistock and Zorra.
A total of 1,130 cases have been variants of concern with 307 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are four hospitalizations at this time, with all four in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 36.1 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Forty-four of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with nine of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,089.
A total of 144,161 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 67.7 per cent.
There are 30.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 37.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 20.6 cases per 100,000 population and 53.4 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 192 tests Monday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 47 on Monday.
