The presence of military vehicles Thursday (Sept. 23) evening in Port Stanley and assault boats at Little Beach may seem out of the ordinary.
But, in fact, a training session with Canadian Army Reserve personnel from 31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgins) is planned to begin at 7 p.m. and run approximately three hours.
The exercise is designed to maintain and further develop the skills of reserve personnel in convoy and boating operations. The soldiers will not be carrying weapons or ammunition and participants will be observing public health guidelines.
These include, wearing masks, extra sanitizing of equipment and hands, and physical distancing where possible.
All efforts are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience to residents and visitors, although certain areas of the village may be inaccessible during the exercise.
Members of the public are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles, and are thanked in advance for their understanding and co-operation.
