A four-goal outburst in the final 20 minutes of play powered the St. Thomas Stars to a come-from-behind 5-3 win over the Legionnaires Saturday night in Sarnia. That earned the Stars a split in their opening weekend of the GOJHL season.
Maddox Amaral netted a pair of goals in a six-minute span to lead the third-period charge. Jack Weber got the ball rolling at the 1:45 mark of the period and Patterson MacNair rounded out the scoring in the final minute.
Tanner Dietz scored the only goal of the opening frame to give St. Thomas an early lead.
For the second straight game, Ben MacRobbie notched a pair of helpers. The Harriston, Ontario rookie is tied for second in league scoring two games in.
Tyler Roberts was in net for the Stars, making 17 saves.
The Stars are off now until Thursday when they return to Sarnia in a re-match with the Legionnaires. Game time is 7:10 p.m. and myFM will have all the action with Chris Soares.
