The province this morning is reporting 613 new COVID-19 cases, with no deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 19 new cases since Friday, with 27 resolved. There were five new cases in Aylmer, two in Dutton-Dunwich and one each in St. Thomas, Central Elgin and Bayham.
The death toll stands at 86 since the pandemic began.
There are 32 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with six in Woodstock, five in Ingersoll, three in St. Thomas, Aylmer, Southwold and Blandford-Blenheim, two in Bayham, Dutton-Dunwich and East Zorra-Tavistock and single cases in Central Elgin, West Elgin and Norwich.
A total of 1,148 cases have been variants of concern with 324 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are four hospitalizations at this time, with one in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.9 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Twenty-two of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with four of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,144.
A total of 145,825 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 68.5 per cent.
There are 15.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 35.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 7.7 cases per 100,000 population and 40.0 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 160 tests Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 47 on Friday.
