The province this morning is reporting 511 new COVID-19 cases today, with two deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 44 new cases since Friday, with 16 resolved. There are 17 new cases in Aylmer, six in St. Thomas, four in Bayham, two in Central Elgin and one in Southwold.
The death toll remains at 86 since the pandemic began.
There are 71 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 22 in Aylmer, 11 in Bayham, seven in St. Thomas and Tillsonburg, five in Woodstock and Zorra, four in Central Elgin, three in SW Oxford, two in Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock and Ingersoll and a single cases in Southwold.
A total of 1,217 cases have been variants of concern with 329 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
Two residents and one staff member at Elgin Manor in Southwold have tested positive.
There are four hospitalizations at this time, with one in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.9 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Fifty-four of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 20 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,182.
A total of 147,687 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 69.4 per cent.
There are 33.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 32.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 18.0 cases per 100,000 population and 293.6 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 151 tests Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 28 on Friday.
