The province this morning is reporting 429 new COVID-19 cases with three deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting nine new cases with two resolved. There was one new death – a 75-year-old Aylmer man – bringing the toll to 87 since the pandemic began.
There were two new cases in Dutton-Dunwich and single cases in Aylmer and West Elgin.
There are 77 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 21 in Aylmer, 11 in Bayham, 10 in Woodstock, seven in St. Thomas and Tillsonburg, five in Zorra, three in Central Elgin and SW Oxford, two in Dutton-Dunwich, Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock and Ingersoll and single cases in Southwold and West Elgin.
A total of 1,224 cases have been variants of concern with 399 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
Two residents and one staff member at Elgin Manor in Southwold have tested positive.
There are three hospitalizations at this time, with one in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.9 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Fifty-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 23 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,184.
A total of 147,687 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 69.4 per cent.
There are 36.4 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 33.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 18.0 cases per 100,000 population and 280.3 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 120 tests Sunday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 28 on Friday.
