The province has announced it is providing up to $270 million this year to increase staffing at long-term care homes by more than 4,000 workers.
Rod Phillips, Minister of Long-Term Care, said it’s a case of taking action to improve the quality of care residents receive and the quality of life they experience.
Phillips says the move will increase the daily average of direct care to three hours by the end of the current fiscal year on March 31st.
The funding is part of a 4.9-billion-dollar plan to boost staffing to provide long-term care residents with an average of four hours of direct care per day by 2025.
Long-term care homes in Elgin-Middlesex-London will be receiving $2,924,527 to increase staff levels and increase direct care for residents.
Local allocations are as follows…
Bobier Villa, in Dutton, will receive up to $203,040 for additional staffing this year to increase the hours of direct care for residents. By the year 2024-2025, the home will receive $1,243,608 annually more than their current funding.
Caressant Care on Bonnie Place, in St. Thomas, will receive up to $320,592for additional staffing this year to increase the hours of direct care for residents. By the year 2024-2025,the home will receive $1,963,584 annually more than their current funding.
Caressant Care on Mary Bucke, in St. Thomas, will receive up to $170,985for additional staffing this year to increase the hours of direct care for residents. By the year 2024-2025,the home will receive $1,047,252 annually more than their current funding.
Chartwell Aylmer Long Term Care Residence, in Aylmer, will receive up to $227,978 for additional staffing this year to increase the hours of direct care for residents. By the year 2024-2025, the home will receive $1,396,332 annually more than their current funding.
Elgin Manor Home for the Aged, in St. Thomas, will receive up to $320,592 for additional staffing this year to increase the hours of direct care for residents. By the year 2024-2025,the home will receive $1,963,584 annually more than their current funding.
Extendicare Port Stanley, in Port Stanley, will receive up to $156,738 for additional staffing this year to increase the hours of direct care for residents. By the year 2024-2025,the home will receive $959,976 annually more than their current funding.
Terrace Lodge, in Aylmer, will receive up to $356,212 for additional staffing this year to increase the hours of direct care for residents. By the year 2024-2025,the home will receive $2,181,756 annually more than their current funding.
Valleyview Home, in St. Thomas, will receive up to $484,456 for additional staffing this year to increase the hours of direct care for residents. By the year 2024-2025,the home will receive $2,967,192 annually more than their current funding.
