Available for occupancy later this month, the Railway City Lofts are micro-apartments on the second floor of the downtown transit building designed to transform lives.
Owned by the city and operated by Indwell, the 15 units are an example of welcoming supportive housing for individuals transitioning from homelessness and mental health challenges, explains Natasha Thuemler, Indwell’s regional manager in London.
Over the next four years, Indwell plans to develop over 100 units of affordable housing in St. Thomas, including their second project at 16 Queen Street in the city’s west end.
The lofts are more than just accommodation, explains Thuemler.
With the need for affordable housing at a crisis level in St. Thomas and elsewhere, supportive housing is a proven solution to homelessness, adds Thuemler
Temporary housing for those who require the supports on site.
Thuemler explains the project is designed to transform lives with affordable and professionally staffed housing.
