Much like St. Thomas Police and Elgin OPP, the Aylmer Police Service spent the Thanksgiving long weekend focusing on traffic enforcement to ensure roadway safety.
This resulted in 42 Highway Traffic Act charges for offences related to speeding, improper means of attachment, improper tires, suspended drive and traffic light offenses
Officers also conducted 5 RIDE checks over the long weekend, resulting in a total of 206 drivers checked for sobriety.
During the checks, officers administered 3 roadside tests resulting in one 3-day suspension, two Liquor license act charges and one cannabis readily available charge.
Aylmer Police would like to thank motorists for their efforts in obeying the rules of the road which added to the safety of all travelers during the long weekend.
