It’s Next Gen Farmer Day on 94.1 myFM presented by Briwood Farm Market.
For Grace Jones, a good day on the job is when you make a positive difference for a grower. Grace is a sales representative at Corteva Agri-science, which became a standalone company from its parent, DowDupont in 2019. A company that aspires “to help farmers produce the food society will demand, in the way that society demands it,” according to their website. Although she and her sister Emily Jones, had minimal involvement with the family’s cash crop farm while growing up, Grace says once she began her career following graduation from university, she enjoyed the interaction with growers.
In particular, she relishes the consultation aspect of her relationship with farmers.
Looking to the future, Grace explains there are many options at Corteva but she would prefer not to lose her connections with customers and retailers.
Helping her growers with their concerns and striving to help them prosper, often with challenging weather and growing conditions, is a reward unto itself for Grace.
She admits it can be a stressful industry to work in at times. “There’s always a part of my geography that isn’t having perfect conditions. And that’s sometimes challenging to navigate.” An extended version of our interview with Grace Jones can be found below.
