Calling it a good fit for both parties, McDougall Energy of Sault Ste. Marie announced this morning (Friday) it is acquiring St. Thomas-based Dowler-Karn.
With close to 80 years in business, family-owned Dowler-Karn services more than 18,000 residential, agricultural, commercial and industrial customers from eight branch offices and nine fuel-access centres in southwestern Ontario.
CFO Dan Kelly says the deal will afford additional resources for Dowler-Karn.
And for those customers, advises Kelly, it will be business as usual when the deal closes early next year.
McDougall Energy has local offices across Ontario and team members across Western Canada.
Kelly notes both firms have worked diligently to develop strong relationships and reputations in the communities they serve as customer-focused service providers.
Earlier this year it McDougall acquired Vieira Fuels of Hamilton and Rosen Energy of Kingston.
The Dowler-Karn brand will continue on once the deal is finalized, advises Kelly.
The acquisition requires final approval from government regulators.
