The possibility now exists that increased COVID-19 restrictions could be initiated by Southwestern Public Health.
The cautionary note came Thursday morning from medical officer of health, Dr. Joyce Lock who noted case counts and hospitalizations are trending upward and three new deaths were reported in the first three days of this week.
Although she wouldn’t delve into specifics of these restrictions, Lock says staff will be closely monitoring data in the coming weeks.
A number of particular interest, is the number of ongoing cases per 100,000 population.
On Thursday the rate was 44.9 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the Southwestern Public Health region, the third highest rate in SW Ontario, with 11 hospitalizations.
