The province this morning is reporting 441 new COVID-19 cases, with three deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 18 new cases with 20 resolved.
There was one new death, an Elgin woman in her 50s. The death toll is now 95 since the pandemic began.
There are six new cases in Aylmer and two each in St. Thomas and Bayham.
There are 126 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 34 in Woodstock, 27 in Aylmer, 17 in Bayham, 12 in Ingersoll, 11 in Norwich, nine in St. Thomas, eight in in Tillsonburg, three in Malahide, two in Zorra and one each in Central Elgin, SW Oxford and East Zorra-Tavistock.
A total of 1,638 cases have been variants of concern with 810 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no institutional cases reported.
There are eight hospitalizations at this time, with four in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 36.3 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Eighty-eight of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 30 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,626.
A total of 152,385 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 71.6 per cent.
There are 59.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region – the highest rate in SW Ontario – as compared to 18.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 23.1 cases per 100,000 population and 360.4 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 83 tests Sunday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 27 on Friday.
