The province this morning is reporting 552 new COVID-19 cases, with three deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 66 new cases since Friday with 61 resolved.
The death toll is 95 since the pandemic began.
There are 17 new cases in Aylmer, 12 in St. Thomas, four in Bayham and two in West Elgin.
There are 159 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 38 in Aylmer, 36 in Woodstock, 27 in Tillsonburg, 24 in St. Thomas, 12 in Norwich, 10 in Bayham, four in Ingersoll and SW Oxford, two in West Elgin and one each in Central Elgin and Zorra.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are no institutional cases reported.
There are 15 hospitalizations at this time, with six in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.6 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and twelve of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 52 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,737.
A total of 153,248 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 72.0 per cent.
There are 75.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region – second in SW Ontario to Haldimand-Norfolk at 85.0 – as compared to 20.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 61.7 cases per 100,000 population and 507.2 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 132 tests Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 11 last Wednesday.
