The province this morning is reporting 481 new COVID-19 cases, with one death.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 24 new cases with 22 resolved.
The death toll is 95 since the pandemic began.
There are six new cases in Aylmer, three in St. Thomas and one each in Bayham and Malahide.
There are 161 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 41 in Aylmer, 37 in Woodstock, 26 in St. Thomas and Tillsonburg, 11 in Bayham, nine in Norwich, three in Ingersoll and SW Oxford, two in West Elgin and one each in Central Elgin, Malahide and Zorra.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are no institutional cases reported.
There are 15 hospitalizations at this time, with eight in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.6 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and eleven of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 52 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,759.
A total of 153,248 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 72.0 per cent.
There are 76.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region – second in SW Ontario to Haldimand-Norfolk at 85.0 – as compared to 19.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 66.8 cases per 100,000 population and 547.3 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 132 tests Sunday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 11 last Wednesday.
