Southwestern Public Health is advising today (Sunday) a staff member at Terrace Lodge in Malahide has tested positive for COVID-19. The positive case impacts one area of the facility.
As is standard procedure when there is a single case reported in an institution, Ministry of Long-Term Care guidelines place Terrace Lodge into “suspect outbreak” status.
Elgin county staff are working closely with the health unit on outbreak management and practices. Residents, staff and community members who are determined to be at risk are being contacted to prevent further spread of illness in the home or in the community.
At this time the county’s two other long-term care facilities – Bobier Villa and Elgin Manor – do not have any positive cases among residents or staff.
