The province this morning is reporting 748 new COVID-19 cases, with five deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 34 new cases, with 20 resolved.
The death toll is 97 since the pandemic began.
There are six new cases in Aylmer, four in Bayham, three in St. Thomas and two in Malahide.
There are 178 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 39 in Aylmer, 35 in Tillsonburg, 32 in Woodstock, 23 in Bayham, 21 in St. Thomas, seven in Norwich, five in SW Oxford, four in Blandford-Blenheim, three in Zorra, two in Malahide, East Zorra-Tavistock and Ingersoll and one each in Central Elgin, Southwold and West Elgin.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are eight resident cases and two staff cases at Aylmer Retirement Residence in Aylmer and one staff case at Terrace Lodge in Malahide.
There are 13 hospitalizations at this time, with three in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.2 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and ten of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 38 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,976.
A total of 154,341 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 72.5 per cent.
There are 84.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 27.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 54.0 cases per 100,000 population and 520.6 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 144 tests Tuesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 27 Monday.
