The village of Port Stanley will kick off their Dickens’ Days Weekend today with their annual Santa Claus Parade.
The entire weekend that is filled with holiday cheer and festivities will “officially” begin Friday night at 7 p.m. with the parade that rolls out of Foodland.
Parade coordinator Ray Filewood says they are excited to be back following a canceled event in 2020.
During the parade, Filewood notes that members of the local fire department will be collecting non-perishable food donations to support the Port Stanley Food Bank.
He adds that children will want to bring along their letters to Santa, as they will also be collected right before the big man himself makes his parade appearance.
The holiday themed fun doesn’t stop on Friday night as many local businesses will be participating in the Port Stanley Dickens’ Days Weekend and will be holding open houses, sales, and more.
Free horse and carriage rides will also be available throughout the weekend as well as fire warming stations. Those roaming throughout Port Stanley and visiting the shops will also get a chance to hear the Dickens carolers as well as meet the Town Crier.
