The province this morning is reporting 927 new COVID-19 cases, with six deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 24 new cases, with 21 resolved.
The death toll remains at 97 since the pandemic began.
There are six new cases in Aylmer, two in St. Thomas and one in Bayham.
There are 181 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 39 in Aylmer, 37 in Tillsonburg, 32 in Woodstock, 21 in Bayham, 20 in St. Thomas, nine in Norwich, five in Blandford-Blenheim, four in SW Oxford and Zorra, three in East Zorra-Tavistock and Ingersoll, two in Malahide and one each in Central Elgin and West Elgin.
On this day last year, there were only 55 confirmed ongoing cases. There were two hospitalizations with one individual in ICU.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are eight resident cases and two staff cases at Aylmer Retirement Residence in Aylmer and one staff case at Terrace Lodge in Malahide.
There are 13 hospitalizations at this time, with three in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and fifteen of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 46 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,997.
A total of 154,341 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 72.5 per cent.
There are 85.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 26.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 51.4 cases per 100,000 population and 520.6 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 148 tests Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 18 Wednesday.
