The province this morning is reporting 887 new COVID-19 cases, with three deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 85 new cases since Friday with 56 resolved.
There was one new death, an Elgin man in his 70s. That brings the death toll to 101 since the pandemic began.
There are 202 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 55 in St. Thomas, 38 in Tillsonburg, 32 in Woodstock, 27 in Aylmer, 14 in Norwich, eight in Bayham, seven in Ingersoll, six in Malahide, four in Central Elgin and Blandford-Blenheim, two in East Zorra-Tavistock, SW Oxford and Zorra and one in West Elgin.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are five resident cases and six staff cases at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
There are 12 hospitalizations at this time, with four in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.3 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and forty-two of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 61 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 5,220.
A total of 155,453 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 73.0 per cent.
There are 95.5 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 38.0 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 141.4 cases per 100,000 population and 360.4 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 123 tests Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 47 Friday.
