The province this morning is reporting 928 new COVID-19 cases, with nine deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 36 new cases with 33 resolved.
There were two new deaths, a female in her 50s and a man in his 60s, both Elgin residents. That brings the death toll to 103 since the pandemic began.
There are 10 new cases in St. Thomas, four in Aylmer and one in Dutton/Dunwich.
There are 203 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 56 in St. Thomas, 38 in Woodstock, 37 in Tillsonburg, 27 in Aylmer, 12 in Norwich, eight in Ingersoll, six in Bayham, five in Malahide and Blandford-Blenheim, three in Central Elgin, two in East Zorra-Tavistock and SW Oxford and one each in Dutton/Dunwich and Zorra.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are five resident cases and seven staff cases at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
There are 12 hospitalizations at this time, with five in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.4 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and forty-four of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 59 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 5,253.
A total of 155,453 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 73.0 per cent.
There are 96.0 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 50.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 143.9 cases per 100,000 population and 360.4 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 126 tests Sunday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 47 Friday.
