With winter break fast approaching, the Thames Valley District School Board are reminding parents and students about important health and safety details to consider if you are planning to travel this holiday season.
The TVDSB states that those planning on traveling outside of Canada during the break, and are fully vaccinated, can return to school like normal as long as you don’t have any COVID-19 symptoms and pass the daily screening.
If you are unvaccinated and traveling with parents or guardians who are fully vaccinated you cannot return to the classroom, or any type of child care, for 14 days after you arrive home.
During that time, you will not be placed in virtual classes, but you will have access to independent work.
For those who are planning to travel within Canada, there are currently no restrictions in place, so you must pass the daily screening and be symptom-free to return to in-person learning.
For those students who are unvaccinated and traveling during the winter break, it is advised that the student or parent arrange the at home independent work before winter break starts.
The teacher will provide work on a digital platform during the students 14-day period at home for the student to complete.
The board says that advice is based on the current COVID-19 guidelines from the Government of Canada, Ontario Ministry of Health and local Public Health Units.
