The province this morning is reporting 1,453 new COVID-19 cases, with 11 deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 23 new cases with 21 resolved.
The death is 105 since the pandemic began.
There are five new cases in Aylmer, four in St. Thomas, three in Malahide and two in Bayham.
There are 201 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 57 in St. Thomas, 38 in Woodstock, 34 in Tillsonburg, 28 in Aylmer, 10 in Norwich and Ingersoll, seven in Malahide, four in Bayham, three in Central Elgin and Blandford-Blenheim, two in East Zorra-Tavistock, SW Oxford and Zorra and one in Dutton/Dunwich.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are eight resident cases and eight staff cases at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
There are 10 hospitalizations at this time, with five in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and fifty-one of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 64 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 5,326.
A total of 155,695 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 73.1 per cent.
There are 95.0 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 61.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 146.5 cases per 100,000 population and 373.7 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 184 tests Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 39 Wednesday.
