The province this morning is reporting 3,124 new COVID-19 cases, with five deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 36 new cases, with 10 resolved.
The death toll is 108 since the pandemic began.
There are 10 new cases in St. Thomas, four in Malahide, three in Central Elgin, two in Aylmer and one in Bayham.
There are 234 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 66 in St. Thomas, 40 in Woodstock, 19 in Aylmer, 18 in Ingersoll, 16 in Norwich and Tillsonburg, 10 in Central Elgin, nine in SW Oxford, eight in Dutton/Dunwich and Malahide, seven in East Zorra-Tavistock, five in Bayham, four in Zorra, three in Southwold and Blandford-Blenheim and two in West Elgin.
More than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are 11 resident cases and nine staff cases and one death at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
There are 11 hospitalizations at this time, with seven in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.2 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and sixty-one of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 54 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 5,494.
A total of 156,284 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 73.4 per cent.
There are 110.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 108.4 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 169.6 cases per 100,000 population and 253.6 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 177 tests Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 63 Wednesday.
