The Flyers got what would be the winning goal a couple of minutes into the game and cruised to 4-0 win over the St. Thomas Stars, Thursday night in Leamington.
The Flyers continued their mastery over St. Thomas, having won all four games of the campaign so far, with this being the most one-sided.
The Stars did stay even with Leamington with shots on net, however Boe Piroski kicked aside all 40 shots for the shutout, his first this season.
Ryan Blackburn got that early Flyers’ goal, with Gavin Grundner adding a couple of insurance markers and Connor MacPherson closing out the scoring with six minutes remaining.
Owen Willmore was in net for St. Thomas who have lost four of their last five.
With the loss, the Stars remain a point behind seventh-place Strathroy and they have a five-point cushion over cellar-dwelling Sarnia.
The Stars are idle now until Jan. 5 when they head to LaSalle to face the Vipers. St. Thomas has enjoyed success against LaSalle, winning two of three this season.
