A Central Elgin man has been charged with second-degree murder after a fatal shooting Saturday in Sparta.
Just before 7 p.m., Elgin OPP and the West Region Emergency Response Team were called to a shooting incident at a residence on North Street in Sparta.
A man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as 35-year-old Christopher Robert Roy of London.
Police believe there was no threat to public safety as this was not believed to be a random incident.
Thirty-six year-old Devon VanDenDriessche has been arrested and remanded into custody with a court appearance Jan. 7 at the Elgin County Courthouse.
Police are continuing with their investigation.
