We’ve all heard the saying, what goes around, comes around. And for Melissa Zinn, Creator of the St. Thomas Helping Hands group, giving back to others over the years, has led to a community of people doing the same for her in return.
The local Facebook group created in 2019, is a way for members of the community to reach out to each other, when a sudden need presents itself.
Zinn says that quickly changed, with members stepping up to support those in need, whether that be by supplying clothes, food, baby items, the list is endless.
When creating the group, Zinn used her past experiences as motivation to make sure nobody in the city goes without.
Well Zinn recently found her self on the receiving end of all the love from the St. Thomas Helping Hands, when she became aware of an expensive surgical procedure she would have to undertake.
With the steep price tag of the surgery, Zinn eventually agreed to receiving support from those wishing to give back.
Zinn says she really has no words for the love she feels.
She adds that with the goal for the surgery now complete, the St. Thomas Helping Hands group is shifting their focus to supporting the Spurgeon Family and Oliver’s Ride.
